ORGANIC IDEAS: GATEWAY TO GLOBAL HEALTH
HERB PLANTATION DRIVE
ACTIVITY 1
‘And God said ‘Behold ‘. I have given you every herb bearing seed,
which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit
of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for meal.
Students of SMJPS, under the
mentorship of the Principal Dr. Racchna Saddi organised a Herb Plantation Drive
on 25th October 2019. The aim of the drive was to make the students
aware of different kinds of herbs and their usage and medicinal benefits. The students
planted the herbs grown in different countries in colourful pots and displayed
them. Their gleaming eyes conveyed a very positive message.
Students of classes VII and VIII
were divided into four teams representing four countries – India, Sri Lanka,
Nepal and Bhutan. The students collected the data related to different herbs,
their usage and benefits from different sources like internet, newspapers
devotedly and sincerely. They also collected information on herbs planted in
these countries.
Throughout the session all the
teams explained the method of planting different herbs, weather required for
planting them and their medicinal benefits.
A fruitful, enriching and
stimulating day was a great learning experience for the students. At the end of
the workshop, questions were raised by the teacher incharge - Ms. Shailja Sood. The questions were
expeditiously answered by the students who were present there as audience.
The whole session was a huge success
as one and all present there enjoyed the workshop and acquired a lot of
knowledge about different herbs and their usage. Head Mistress Mrs. Geeta Oberai
along with ISA coordinators Mrs. Roopali Sinha and Mr. Amit Kumar graced the event with immense enthusiasm and excitement. They all lauded the efforts put by
the students for making the whole drive a reverberating success.
The young ignited minds made the
whole event very fruitful and received the message of planting different medicinal
plants at home and to propagate their learning
to their classmates, friends and family.
.
“Plants love us
They help us reclaim our health
in totality.
Plants are healers.”
The event concluded with words of appreciation
by headmistress Mrs. Geeta Oberai.
