ISA ACTVITY NO. 3

Costumes and Festivals

Costumes represent several traditional and individualistic values the world over. The world is full of different varieties of traditional dresses. Some colourful and some immersed in history and specific to the country's culture and others due to circumstances or status, they are almost always eye-catching. Learning about them gains one and insight into the country they are a part of. The beautiful efforts of the children filled the otherwise chilly days of January with thw warmth of creativity.

To help the students understand the importance of various costumes worn during various festivals across the world, they were asked to create costumes and dresses and dress their dolls in those costumes.

The students of classes XI and XII came out with stunning costumes. Their effort was quite visible in the colourful dresses they had created.

They presented their costumes with a detailed explanation about their importance for the people of a particular country. The intensive research they had done to create the costumes was evident in the confidence with which the students presented them to the audience comprising of the students and the teachers.

They had dressed the dolls as Nazarenos  wearing Capirotes worn by people during the Holy week or Semana Santa in Spain, Sharara suit worn during Eid Al-Fitr F in India, a Carnival dress worn during the Nice Carnival in France, Halloween costume for Halloween celebrations in USA and Kimono worn by the people of Japan during the Golden week and Hanami.

Their guide teachers Ms. Uma R Lal and Ms. Sakshi French were beaming with pride throughout the presentation. Ms. Rupali Sinha , ISA coordinator was also present during the event. Ms. Shaloo Nanda, the coordinator of the activity and Ms. Parul were also there to applaud the efforts of the students.
