RHYTHM IN TANDEM

RHYTHM IN TANDEM

ISA ACTIVITY NO. 5

“Music Is The Universal Language of Mankind".

Keeping up this spirit, a musical Zoom meet was organised on 12th October 2020. About 40 students from classes 4th to 9th and teachers from Shree Bal Bikas Secondary School, Dang, Nepal and our school participated enthusiastically in this meet. It was a new venture for the students of both the countries.

The teachers of Music Department of Sumermal Jain Public School, Ms. Mita, Mr Parasmani and Mr Ashok ( Instrumental Music) guided the students for this Zoom meet. Ms Kusum (Geography department) and Ms Pooja (Hindi department)  also contributed their ideas which added a lot of interesting discussions to the event.

The students of Nepal presented Ghoomar and  Bhojpuri songs and the students of our school sang Nepali  songs. Along with the song presentations, teachers of both countries initiated conversation encouraging the students to interact to express their curiosity regarding culture and way of life of the other nation. To our surprise ,we got to know that Teej is also celebrated in Nepal. Views about the festival of ‘Teej’  were exchanged.

The entire experience was personally meaningful for the students in terms of strengthening confidence, improving interpersonal communication, learning to self-discipline and experiencing joy in group activities. The students were given a chance to explore the culture and music of another country that was a matter of fascination, boosting their curious nature.

Participating in all the activities has led to development of positive attitude and sense of appreciation of ones own culture as well as culture of the neighbour country.

Through the songs the students expanded the awareness about the concerns, interest of the people of the fellow country. Opening of such channels for interaction teaches  important lesson of harmonious co-existence of different cultures.

The videos of the musical zoom session are posted below.
